Surreal spa is inspired by the world of Alice in Wonderland

Green Massage is a chain of spa’s in Shanghai, each branch of which features its own unique interiors. This one is located on Madang Road in the centre of Shanghai but step inside and you’re instantly transported to a dream-like world reminiscent of Lewis Carroll’s “Alice’s Adeventures in Wonderland.” Inspired by the Mad Hatter’s quote “There is a place. Like no place on Earth. A land full of wonder, mystery…”, the designers used the low-key basement entrance to their advantage. Covered with large green plants and lit by glow worm lights, visitors are meant to feel as if they are entering through the rabbit hole. 

Design highlights

Natural light is minimised to emphasise that this is a place to relax and escape reality. Low lighting and oversized paper flowers lead you inside to the treatment rooms, through a maze-like flower garden, while irregular mirrors further add to the surreal atmosphere.
