Project: MINI Urban Exhibition Hall, Changsha
Location: Changsha, Hunan Province, China
Award: Individual Project Interiors: Temporary & Experiential Projects, Bronze, 2023
Design Practice: ARCHIHOPE
Client: BMW Group
The MINI exhibition hall is a car showroom with a difference and the brand’s first such space in China. It features two entrances embedded in a glass box - a customer entrance via the shopping centre, and a second entrance in the outer street. The design focuses on highlighting the display of MINI cars with precise attention to detail, such as the lighting wattage, in order to fully illuminate the products without chromatic aberration.
The vestibule facade of the space is made of environmentally friendly paint, while the rear is paved with environmentally friendly material-oriented strand board. Different interfaces are divided by lamp belts.
Design highlights
Car tracks weaving their way through the space and whirling around overhead give the space a powerful sense of dynamism, an integral part of the brand's core concept.
