What is the relationship between graphic design and health? That was the subject of an exhibition, Can Graphic Design Save Your Life? at London’s Wellcome Collection. The creativity of Universal Design Studio’s design for this exhibition made it a clear winner of the Exhibition Spaces Award in the World Interiors News Awards 2018.

The exhibition focused on the ways in which graphic design can construct and communicate global healthcare messages. It comprised more than 200 objects, including posters, illuminated pharmacy signs and digital teaching aids. Exhibits were drawn from both public and private collections, and from influential figures in twentieth century graphic design as well as smaller studios.

With its bright colours and bold concept, Universal Design Studio’s solution won warm praise from the WIN Awards judges. “This is a fun exhibition space and through its use of colour and display cabinetry, it tells a compelling story,” they said.

Universal Design Studio collaborated with graphic designer Lucienne Roberts and design educator Rebecca Wright, founders of GraphicDesign&, and with Shamita Sharmacharja at the Wellcome Collection, to deliver the exhibition.

This is one of the many projects recognised in the prestigious WIN Awards 2018, which were celebrated in London earlier this month. The awards showcase the very best global creativity and talent in interior design across categories covering interior products, practice, projects and branding concepts.
