The Sketch-Balaruc-les-Bains – is complex of 108 homes and part of a broader operation dealing with the urban development of the Merlot sector in the South of France. The project aims to create housing composed of collective buildings and individual houses, of which 41% will be social housing.
ASVA's design dominates a rocky promontory overlooking the city of Balaruc-les-Bains and the lake of Thau. It is marked on the east by a railway and on the west by a road, both below the ground. The site hosts a building of 64 social homes and a building consisting of 44 housing
Olivier Amat and Laurent Saint-Val created Amat & Saint-Val Architectes in 2014 to focus on culture, housing and infrastructure using experimental approaches to push relationships between inner and outer spaces, thickness and materiality.
