Italian palazzo-style development for Moscow

A mixed-used development reflecting the style of an Italian palazzo will be constructed in the center of Moscow.

by Magda Ibrahim 08 January 2019 Housing

Architects Kleinewelt Architekten responded to the historic and cultural layers of the Russian city to design the Allegoria Mosca development that combines residential apartments, a museum and exhibition space and art gallery.

The 18,869sqm development in Moscow’s Ostozhenka Street will use brutal natural materials for the main building, including raw natural stone, brass, and giant glass slabs.

Restoration works will be carried out in the historic Red and White chambers, which date back to the 17th century, while a new complex of 67 apartments will be built.

An exhibition space will be created under the Museum Square and further along Ostozhenka Street will be children's workshops, studios and art residences.

An art gallery and a center for the study and future development of Moscow will appear as part of Allegoria Mosca.

A central public space, reminiscent of an Italian palazzo, is envisaged for the site, as well as a smaller courtyard for residents of the scheme.
