The sculptured, cantilevered design of Manhattan’s new ARO tower features a distinctive white metal grid framing the glass tower.
Designed by CetraRuddy Architecture for developer Algin Management, the 62-storey tower features a cantilevered design of fluid twists and curves.
Its striking form accentuates transparency and light, responding to its surroundings with a distinctive white metal grid projecting from its sculptural glass form.
John Cetra, managing principal of CetraRuddy, said, “In creating a tall, slender tower, we were able to bring more space, light and air around the building, incorporating plentiful outdoor spaces and amplified views.
“The building twists and cantilevers as it grows to optimize spectacular views and light within the residences, and its rounded corners create unique interior layouts and views. Its form allows for larger apartments at the top of the building reaching out, and the building amenities in the ARO’s base, or podium, cascading down the rooftops.”
Residents will enter ARO through a 24/7 attended lobby, which mirrors the building’s architectural expression, with a swirling reception desk reminiscent of the building’s curved form.
The lobby will also feature a custom-commissioned sculpture by artist James Greco, while the ARO Club, a multi-floor indoor and outdoor amenity space has three unique lounges.
A sports lounge adjacent to fitness amenities features a custom graphic wall covering and terrazzo flooring.
Another lounge, inspired by a traditional club setting, has a dramatic onyx accent wall within the space and will offer residents space to relax and socialize.
A club/game room with billiards, ping pong, high-top seating, and featuring a geometric wood ceiling, is also part of the ARO Club.
Outdoor terraces feature landscape design by Balmori Associates and the indoor pool – one of two pools in the building – has a custom vitreous glass tile wall mosaic and Quartzite velvet stone at the pool deck floor.
The ARO Sky Club will feature the building’s fourth lounge, a glass-enclosed rooftop Sky Lounge, and an outdoor pool with stunning views overlooking the city.
The building features studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom residences, with natural light spilling through floor-to-ceiling windows, and living spaces with nearly 10-foot ceilings and oak floors.
Most kitchens open to living areas, while chef’s kitchens feature solid surface quartz countertops, custom cabinetry, and premier stainless-steel appliances.
Spa-inspired baths feature Carrara marble floors, Dolomiti marble-tiled walls, glass-enclosed showers, and custom vanities.
