The flight of the condos

No sooner had architects unveiled their latest residential project, buyers were queuing

by Jez Abbott 14 March 2019

Standing out in a sea of overly expensive multimillion-dollar new development condos in New York City is the Lindley.

The block in Murray Hill stands in contrast - a comparatively affordable, smartly-designed new 20-story, full-service ground-up condominium.

The Lindley’s 74 apartments are designed inside and out by Rawlings Architects and furnished in collaboration with Design Within Reach home decor store and building developer CBSK Ironstate.

The residence marries neutral colors with warm finishes throughout the space, creating an inviting urban oasis and offering signature design fittings.

Saarinen dining tables and Como sectional chaise, for example, grace living and dining areas with oakwood flooring. A Royal shelving system accentuates room lengths.

Oversize casement-style windows with motorized shades offer views of the East River. Kitchens include white frosted glass cabinets with quartz backsplashes and countertops. Bathrooms are clad with terrazo flooring and Calcutta marble tiles.

Perched on top the building is a landscaped roof garden open to all residents, with a BBQ grilling and dining area and incredible New York City skyline views.

The Lindley's exterior is a timeless design with a facade comprised of varying shapes and shades of brick, giving the building both depth and texture.
