Huazhu Sales Center located in Shaoxing City, with design area about 1450㎡. From the beginning, the designer redefined the functions of “sales center” to be a future art gallery which will serve as part of the supporting facilities for the residence. The designer aims to create a relaxing environment for visitors where they can enjoy art, materials with relaxing and soothing texture are chosen so visitors could immerse themselves in art while enjoying the beautiful scenery outside the window.
Chinese coloUrs are used extensively in the interior: the warm brown of the nature texture of the reception area comes from the rocks in the landscape painting, while the metal color comes from the colors of the best silk of Jiangsu and Zhejiang; the cobalt blue on the art installation and the blue glaze used in the office area all come from the traditional Oriental color spectrum. These colors not only make the atmosphere more dynamic and gorgeous, they enhance the sense of quality of the space.
For the layout, besides negotiation and office areas which are necessary for a sales center, extra areas for blog lecture, tea, and reading were specifically designed to enrich the cultural experience of the space. This turns the process of visiting the sales center and enjoying the art into spiritual enjoyment, thus weaken the original function of the space. Such shift of functions makes the building which was originally a sales center becomes different; in addition to being a courtyard, it is a veritable art gallery.
