2019 WAN Awards: Prado Pozuelo - Morph Estudio

Prado Pozuelo - Morph Estudio is an entry in the Residential category at the 2019 World Architecture News Awards.

by Alison Carter 28 June 2019 2019

The project speaks for itself. The plot has a large number of protected trees that were taken into account from the beginning of the design. Most of the time, great ideas arise from a difficulty that takes us out of our comfort zone and encourages us to do something different. The building was designed between the footprint of the trees, and the large and curved terraces open towards them. This is the project´s central theme, becoming even stronger in the central block where the tree is right in the middle of the building.

The north façade is rigid and straight while the south façade has a lot of curves at different levels. Despite these formal differences, the façades merge harmoniously with organic landscaping in an area of 20,000sqm. The project was a challenge but the results are similar to the first drawn sketch, bold and strong.
