Audi ATC4 - Audi training centre is an entry in the Sustainable Buildings category at the 2019 World Architecture News Awards.

The guiding principle of the German automobile manufacturer Audi is "progress through technology". Founded in 1899, Audi has been focusing on continuous improvement and is able to offer its premium vehicles worldwide.

Planning the construction of the fourth training centre at the airport in Munich, the company had exactly these values in mind. They wanted to build a modern and sustainable building where employees can be trained and educated. At the new venue the employees get to know the new models thoroughly and also get all the information they need to care for future customers as good as possible.

In order to be able to use the ground-level as a presentation area, the module building is elevated for one storey height. Transparent façade constructions are used in both eastern and western direction. The module is planned to be self-sufficient in terms of the required energy supply and the building’s technology. On the roof area above the second level there is an energy centre. To be able to use solar power there are 118 photovoltaic modules in different sizes installed all over the facade.

The modules were printed by screen-print, to produce the black color. The power of them combined results in an energy generation of 30.300 kilowatt-hours per year. The installation of an electric charging station is planned for September 2019. Four HPC charging stations with a capacity of 150 kW will be installed.
