Shane Thompson Architects is a small practice working across many project types. The practice is particularly interested in making work which is influenced by and relevant to local culture. Working primarily in the sub-tropics and tropics, an awareness of the indigenous approach to “Finding Country”, climate, local building practice and arts and crafts practice also inform the work, where all projects are approached from first principals and developed by rigorous analysis of the site from varying aspects. Much of the work is characterised by a particular interest in materials and tectonics within budgetary constraints and always with an economy of means.
