Every two years, BAU brings together all those involved in the planning, construction and operation of all sorts of buildings. It is the world's largest trade show for architects and engineers, and in 2019 attendence BAU 2019 broke previous records with 250,000 visitors representing more than 150 countries flocking to the expanded venue.

We are delighted to announce the WAN Awards partnership with BAU for the 9th consecutive year.

As part of the agreement we are very pleased to announce that one of WAN Award 2019 winners will be asked to present at BAU's 2021 event.

Earlier this year, WAN Awards winner Raimondo Da Col, senior architect at Waugh Thistleton, spoke at at BAU 2019. Having won 2018's WAN award for Best use of Modern Method of Construction (MMC) project award, Da Col shared his knowledge on the environmental and other benefits that cross-laminated-timber (CLT) delivered.

The MMC project category celebrated the innovation and new technology being applied to projects from BIM through offsite manufacture, modular units, 3D printing and mechanised installation techniques; all addressing this paradigm shift in our methods of construction.

Waugh Thistleton Architects' award entry showed how a project that uses the weight savings inherent in CLT could maximise the development potential of a site constrained by an adjacent Crossrail tunnel.

BAU 2021 will take place from January 11 to 16, 2021 at the Messe München Exhibition Center, Germany.
