Gymshark opens £5 million innovation hub

The global sports apparel company, Gymshark, has invested in the Gymshark Lifting Club (GSLC), a studio and fitness centre focussing on employee wellbeing and brand innovation.

by Georgina Johnston 01 January 2020

The 55ft² innovation hub is located within 100yds Gymshark HQ in Solihull, making this their third project completed with Oktra, the UK’s award-winning office design and build company.

In just 22 weeks, the former warehouse facility has been transformed into a vast studio space to support the brand’s active social media presence along with a state-of-the-art gym, designed to be the best in Europe.

Having developed Gymshark HQ as a facility that enables their business to grow, we then moved on to GSLC, which enables their people to grow. It offers something different from a typical office environment– it’s a playground for mental and physical development.

S. Espinasse, Design Director, Oktra North.

The new space offers more potential for team training and engagement, featuring an ‘X’ shaped central concrete health bar designed specifically as a point for learning and personal training. A 100-person auditorium, R&D factory and multiple high-tech photography studios will support Gymshark in the launch of their new fitness app.

The elite space forms a vital part of the brand’s DNA, with its own world class equipment for both fitness and filming. The 13 Olympic-grade weight lifting platforms and outdoor strongman yard space set the scene for a brand offering style alongside authenticity, for a serious work out.
