Wuhan Chuyuan Pension Facility is a senior house. Located by the water, the site planning takes advantage of the abundance of natural surroundings, creating several living blocks with a theme of four seasons: cherry blossom of spring, sweet-scented osmanthus of summer, maple of autumn and plum blossom of winter. Tree-lined roads with cherry blossoms and camphor, pavilions with eaves are linking every part of the community, making an atmosphere of comfort and ease.
The main clubhouse and the sub-facilities provide convenient services and communication space for the elderlies.Inspired by courtyard form of traditional Chinese residence, the central atrium, the Four Season Garden, surrounded by rooms with various programs, is always an active and lively community living room.
Due to the local humid and hot climate, louvers are installed under the skylight ceiling in the atrium. Gathering under the dappled sunbeams through the louvers in the Four Season Garden, people will find the evocatively attractive images of “Tiandou”, the traditional local courtyard form.
Traditional roof tiles, along with wooden grain panels are used in large quantities in the clubhouse. The materials make it is possible for people to feel both high-class luxury and domestic warmth together from the design. Facades with patterns has rendered an interesting effect of light and shadow.
By inheriting Chinese tradition and culture in modern ways, we have created a new type of pension facility that combines both retrospection and novelty, which are not available in conventional nursing facilities.
