Kinara by Vikas Khanna is a rich, vibrant destination emanating warmth and a welcoming ambience through the use of beautiful textures, colours, materials and furnishings. The restaurant portrays a theme all of its own, while retaining a fluid connection to the narrative of the resort - where a natural flow between spaces and a connection between indoors and outdoors are the overriding factors.
The design brief and subsequent process for creating this unique space involved the development of a holistic narrative that takes guests on a journey, from the moment they arrive at the quaintly presented decorative reception, through the discovery zone walkway, and past traditional Indian spice markets contributing enticing aromas, as guests move into the main space. This display provides guests with the opportunity to learn about the different functions and benefits of each ingredient used in the cuisine.
An open show kitchen immediately penetrates the senses as guests arrive within the main restaurant, creating a visual connection between the menu and its preparation. The restaurant opens out to a beautifully formulated outdoor terrace, the dining arena adorned by fire bowls and water features and enveloped by natural landscaping elements.
The concept acknowledges the distinct aromas presented within Indian cuisine, with a vision that aspires to connect guests with the food through accomplished design. This approach creates a fluent journey through the senses, giving guests the opportunity to discover, interact and connect within Indian cuisine and culture during their experience.
