The owner of the project is Beijing Private Junyi International Middle School.

In order to improve the increasingly crowded classroom environment, the school proposed to transform the former basketball arena into the teaching space of the international department. The project has a floor area of 2,942 sq m and was completed on September 6, 2019.

The design adopts the landscape arrangement method of Chinese classical garden, i.e. seeing big things through small ones. Through the methods such as space folding and landscape barrier, the function classroom, corridor and shared space are managed. It makes the space tortuous, rich and diverse, bringing people an interesting space that is well-arranged, orderly and with light and shade changes and proper density.

"Garden" as a spatial prototype is placed in the center of the arena, opening a window to the sky and forming a "garden" in the interior space. The hall at the north entrance is open to the playground, enabling the internal "garden" to borrow landscape. The top skylight provides the "garden" with light and sky and the natural communication has brought vitality to the space. The sectional irregularity and the flat twist bring the space the garden-style interestingness.

With the full circulation of the motion line and the line of sight, the space and the body and perception of human are thus connected. The material for the facade is weather-resistant steel plate and U-shaped glass. Through the comparison of the two material, the confluence of eastern and western cultures and thoughts are expressed.
