The new Funan is envisioned as a vibrant live-work-play hub that fosters emotional connections with its users through lively social and cultural activities, It comprises a retail mall serving as a platform to inspire retail innovation, two office blocks including coworking spaces, and coliving serviced residences.
Design Concept: The redevelopment of Funan as a whole is a microcosm of a city, a mixed-use integrated project, activated 24-hours a day where people can live, work and play. It integrates more than 20 functional zone combined in an integrated vertical network of connected experience zones. The design concept is manifested in “The Tree of Life”. The Tree of Life represents a habitat for creativity, and this manifests in platforms up and down the tree, each one a flexible space that centres on a passion or hobby.
Sustainability & Innovative: Sustainability drives a big part of the architecture, landscape and engineering planning and design for Funan. Ecosystem including channeling waste was implemented in Funan’s rooftop urban farm.
Supports Singapore government’s car-lite vision, Funan promotes cycling through the ground floor of the mall within stipulated hours. As a certified Green Mark Gold, the chiller efficiency is optimized by serving retail in the day and the hotel at night.
Adopted extensive use of smart technology in design for sustainability and innovative construction techniques to shorten the construction timeline while delivering quality, aimed to minimize construction timeframe and impact to the public and allow users to enjoy.
