Founders Memorial Singapore is supposed to reflect national identity and the values Singaporeans stand for as one people. The architecture itself aims to tell Singapore’s founding story, and impart the Singapore spirit.
8DGE designed Founders Memorial Singapore as Circle rising above a landscaped podium. The Podium is an open space where visitors will be channeled into the center. We called this the Origin: a symbolic common space for everyone. Rising above is a Circle form. It represents harmony and inclusiveness. The Circle tilts towards the sky, as if Singapore’s aspirations has taken flight, against all odds.
The Architecture conveys both a contemplative yet expressive presence in the Marina Bay Area. 8DGE designed for a journey that not only looks inwards, a contemplative space where we ponder on our beginnings, but also outwards, where we set our sights upon the future.
The journey cumulates in the Viewing Gallery, where a panoramic view of Singapore’s skyline awaits, upon which we reflect on our past and embrace the future. Founders Memorial is a beacon that guides Singapore into the future.
