Exploring the cycling frontier

Every year the adventure begins with 4,000 boxes shipped from nearby and international points, all to be prepared, mounted, and ready as fervent cyclists gear-up to set forth. This adventure now spans 90 years since the founding of the commerce in 1928, through the generations of Lucien Primeau and his son André, grandson Eric and his young daughter Camille now a competitive cyclist in North America and Europe.

As 2017 drew to a close, and in the midst of a major retail upheaval, the immediacy of internet expectations and client demands led to a first meeting with Gary Conrath of INDESIGN. To begin with, a virgin site was selected along a major Vélo Route and near to the principal highway linking Montréal to the Laurentian Mountains. A vibrant hands-on show-room experience in a striking new edifice was set as the goal: new materials, new aesthetics, and new technological performance; embodied not only in the cycling products and marketing strategies, but in the opportunity to transpose these values into the inside display surfaces and especially the outside architectural forms that would become a metaphor to the open box whence emerges the newly arrived bicycle.
