A classic and timeless French brasserie with a contemporary Asian twist. A restaurant in a hotel - but not another hotel restaurant. A link to the area’s old paper mill, once producing fine paper for book printing. These were important parts of the brief for this restaurant in Four Points by Sheraton, located in a former industrial area in Zürich, transformed into a centre for entertainment, fashion, business and leisure.

The design idea was inspired by one of French literature’s classics - Marguerite Duras’ autobiographical novel “L’Amant” - The Lover. The story is about the encounter, relationship and love-affair between a young French woman and a wealthy Chinese man. Set in French Indochina in the late 1920s, it’s a sensual narrative about a free-spirited young woman and forbidden love; a timeless symbol for the fusion between western and eastern culture.

This passionate story and its cultural context became the perfect conceptual backdrop for the restaurant’s brand and interior design, infusing sensualism and a big heart into the banking capital of Europe. At L’Amant, it symbolizes the passion and love for good food and drinks, people, meetings and great hospitality. And wherever you are seated, you have some of the world’s best-known love novels within easy reach.

Last year more than 40 countries took part in the WIN Awards with strong showings from Europe, the Americas and Asia-Pacific. And we saw some truly outstanding interior designs, take a look at the winners from last year here.
