Brompton - Funan Centre Singapore –28.06.2019 – 125 sq m

A quintessential British Brand. Pioneers of the folding bicycle for over 30 years. Considered a sustainable alternative to public transport within cities. They are still manufactured entirely in London employing many traditional engineering skills.

With a strong heritage, the iconic product requires careful consideration when it comes to retail design. The brief asked to move the experience away from the traditional format of a bike shop and create an environment that talked about engineering excellence, eccentricity and lifestyle, and the warmth of its loyal customers.

The store needed to engage as a serious and hard-working environment providing a sophisticated backdrop to the product, as a community hub, whilst promoting premium British craftsmanship

A folding shop front, designed to suggest a traditional vehicle workshop entrance. A deconstructed shed forms the workshop area, representative of the eccentricity of the brand, evocative of single-minded inventors. The rear wall and roadway are designed to draw the eye through the space. Masterclasses on bike maintenance are held on the roadway.

Bikes are showcased in two ways, folded and unfolded. The depth of the range is presented folded within the “cube wall” which is oriented at a slight angle to ensure the bikes, which are slightly recessed into the display are clearly visible.

Wooden packaging crates that appear around the store as product displays are from the factory; there is community seating area that includes a digital whiteboard used to communicate between stores and customers about future events

Last year more than 40 countries took part in the WIN Awards with strong showings from Europe, the Americas and Asia-Pacific. And we saw some truly outstanding interior designs, take a look at the winners from last year here.
