The redesign for W Atlanta Midtown was completed in January 2019, comprising the lobby, public spaces, guest rooms and suites. Virserius Studio's concept was the recreation of fictional character Arthur’s estate and secret garden, decorated with his awe-inspiring collection of art and other items obtained during his extensive world travels. He takes great pride in these collections and wants to share the stories behind these possessions, hoping they will make great conversational pieces, inspiring special moments among friends during their visit.

The client objective was to have a design that would cater to a different guest clientele, skewing toward a crowd full of flair and sophistication. From the moment guests arrive they are transported into Arthur’s unique world. This new guest experience reveals itself bit by bit, versus having it apparent upon entry. A double entry that opens the space so guests can see directly into the lobby and mezzanine so guests can see movement and activity, encouraging them to interact and move among the various spaces. V/S also extended the exterior façade to create a large indoor restaurant and bar but created multiple entry points to blend indoors with outdoors.

Virserius Studio reconfigured the guestrooms and suites to be more open and layered, treating visitors to an art experience with different graphics, sculptures and installations. The art, which is a focal point, also pays homage to Georgia's natural beauty and Atlanta as the epicenter of film, music and sport.

Last year more than 40 countries took part in the WIN Awards with strong showings from Europe, the Americas and Asia-Pacific. And we saw some truly outstanding interior designs, take a look at the winners from last year here.
