2020 WAN Awards entry: Salesforce Tower, Ohana Floor - Mark Cavagnero Associates

Salesforce Tower, Ohana Floor by Mark Cavagnero Associates is an entry in the Commercial Category of the 2020 WAN Awards

by Copy taken from 2020 entry 24 June 2020 2020

The top two floors of Salesforce Tower, coined the “Ohana Floor," create a flexible event space for corporate meetings by day and community non-profit events after hours. A warm, social and convivial design supports Salesforce’s commitment to their customers, employees and the community through philanthropy, donations and the pro bono use of their facility.

The project converts the highest floor in San Francisco into the “world’s greatest living room.” Flexibility is paramount to hosting a variety of functions. A warm, residential environment was desired.

The space incorporates natural materials such as teak casework and teak-toned vinyl flooring. A natural quartzite stone anchors the barista and kitchen countertops and slate-toned porcelain tile flooring clearly demarcate circulation, food areas and restrooms. The furniture, in soft natural lines and fun, bright colors, lend an informal residential feel. Within the conference rooms, grass cloth wall coverings and translucent privacy drapes soften the all-glass walls. At the center, a curved, rustic-oak table follows the geometry of the tower’s curved façade. The walls of the conference rooms and the solid-oak tables are operable to support larger community events.

All rooms and walls were pushed to the center of the floor plate to allow full 360-degree access along the façade. All 24 perimeter columns are shrouded with a custom living wall. More than 25,000 live plants consisting of 128 species create a dynamic viewing experience. These biophilic elements hit on the core values of the company, which encourages collaboration, sustainability, fun, and well-being within their workspaces.
