1SJRQ is a new mixed use office and retail development in Dublin, Ireland, that demonstrates excellence in design and technical execution and has revitalized its surrounding area breathing life into the protected structures retained and refurbished within the development. The varying context has provided the opportunity for the building to respond as appropriate to each condition, which is reflected in the unique building form and façade execution.

The building has a delicate crystal-like quality which is countered and enhanced by the integration and wrapping of the solid brick forms of the protected structures. The retained brick façade of the protected structure No.2SJRQ is supported on a slim and discrete cantilevering structure behind and its prominence identifies the main building entrance with entry provided through the original door position of the archway.

The office entrance is set back beyond a landscaped courtyard and surrounded by the dynamic curved form of the new building and the protected structures. A five storey glazed atrium defines the office main entrance leading to the reception and circulation core beyond. The building rises to six storeys with a transparent glazed skin. Granite vertical and horizontal bands provide definition between internal spaces use, to define the atrium, the stairs and to provide a strong visual framing to the building.

Generous stone paved terraces at 4th and 5th floors provide the office user an additional amenity with panoramic views over the city and the Dublin Mountains enhancing the office space as a place to work.
