Design for EDO shoe shop in Sitges near Barcelona aims to revive Mediterranean vibe

The redesign of a small shoe shop aims to recover the unique atmosphere around the Mediterranean Sea with craftsmanship, materials and textures of a city as Sitges

by Andrew McCorkell 28 July 2020

EDO is located in the municipality of Sitges, a coastal town close to Barcelona, linked to fashion, tourism and leisure, but above all, it is a characteristic Mediterranean coastal location.

EDO is located in the historic centre, in the heart, in one of the busiest streets, in Jesús 12 street.

The building is a traditional construction between walls, with an elongated geometry.

The project aims to return the premises to its original state, removing decorations leaving only the essential elements, with warm but raw materials drawing from the traditional construction.

The objective was to offer a unique and attractive image for EDO, in harmony with the materials, with a degree of intimacy for the client, a sense of home, and all within budget.

Galician wood panels were used treated with vegetable dyes and alongside custom-made furniture.

The facade provides an open threshold with a small transition between a very crowded exterior and a peaceful interior.
