Studio Tack works with The Brooklyn Home Company on new hotel in NY's Finger Lakes

The Lake House is a Sands family independently-owned hotel located on the north end of Canandaigua Lake

by Alison Carter 17 August 2020

Envisioned by The Brooklyn Home Company, led by brother-sister developer Bill Caleo, designer Lyndsay Caleo Karol and her artist husband Fitzhugh Karol, the hotel will open in the summer of 2020, beginning with the reopening of the Sand Bar.

The development of the hotel is led by Caleo and Doug Bennett, the grandchildren of Marvin and Mickey Sands, founders of the Canandaigua Wine Company.

Formerly a motor lodge owned by the Sands family, The Lake House will offer a new destination for travellers seeking an active wellness retreat in western New York.

With 125 guest rooms and suites, there is a timber frame event barn, a pool and year-round hot tub, a spa, a wellness center, and boardwalk for water sports.

Both casual and fine dining options are located on the property, including signature restaurant Rose Tavern, the newly integrated New York Kitchen, and a re-imagined Sand Bar.
