WELL, BREEAM and a mossy dream: office interiors of 2020

Whether you’re working from home or you’re back in the office, these workplace interiors may surprise

by Nav Pal 16 December 2020

Studio Ma design challenges the idea of what an office should look like when we return post-coronavirus

The architecture firm Studio Ma's design for The Phoenix Law Group's new light-filled, super-energy-efficient, collaboration-fostering office building makes the case for transparency, light, and wellness.

The conversion of an existing single-story structure into a double-height kebony-clad, net-zero-ready workplace features elegant glass and steel partitioned workspaces that visually connect co-workers while separating them acoustically.

It was commissioned by leaders of the law firm and is located in one of Phoenix’s hottest trending neighborhoods.

Widely recognized for creating their own ultra-green headquarters in Phoenix called Xero Studio, the architecture firm Studio Ma has completed the design for a super-energy-efficient law firm office for The Phoenix Law Group, PLC, a leading national practice.

Don’t adjust your dial: Moss is the growing trend in UK office design

The British office is apparently embracing a surprising new interior trend for summer that is - no you didn’t misread it - moss.

Living green walls have already taken the UK by storm but designers say moss, normally found in damp and shady ground outside, is the next big thing for interiors. Some of the biggest brands in the world, including Uber at its London headquarters, have been early adopters - tapping into a new trend towards greenery in the office.

Biophilic experts have already developed moss walls, ceiling tiles, art, branding and moss desk dividers. They have even incorporated moss into office furniture, such as storage and shelving.

Italian 50s buildings transformed into office space of tomorrow

The flexible and sustainable complex is the result of Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel’s completed regeneration of two historical buildings in Milan, Italy.

Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel (ACPV) has unveiled the renovation of San Babila Business Center, of Galleria San Carlo, and of Galleria Passerella 2, in the heart of Milan’s historic centre. Transforming a 21,000 GLA (Gross Leasable Area) block of buildings, designed in the 50s, into a flexible and sustainable space, ACPV's intervention takes a careful approach to the conservation of the buildings' original details, while elevating their character and integrating the architecture in the surrounding urban context.

The project by ACPV integrates the highest sustainability and personal well-being standards, which led to energy class A building certification besides the prestigious LEED Gold and Well certifications.

Perkins and Will unveil capsule of creativity within Viacom HQ

Perkins and Will have unveiled their new design within Viacom’s headquarters, reimagining three full floors for the media company's Global Marketing and Legal departments that support multiple Viacom brands; from MTV, to Comedy Central and Nickelodeon.
