‘Penthouse in the Sky' exhibits modern Hawaii luxury living

One Waterfront Towers in Honolulu were envisioned by Warner Boone of Design Architect Boone & Boone and the late Bruce Stark

by Georgina Johnston 17 February 2021

With a grand vision to create high-rise luxury condominium living, Bruce Stark was behind some of the most iconic residential towers in Hawaii. One Waterfront Towers in the Kaka’ako neighbourhood of downtown Honolulu, is his last project, and one he chose for his personal residence.

Along with his wife Carol and a team of notable artisans, the Starks created a timeless, elegant and unparalleled three storey home on the 45th floor atop Tower One. With a fully custom interior envisioned by designer Michael Kosko of Gulstrom Kosko, the total artistry of the home is reflected in every detail, from the Art Deco-inspired elevator to a custom carved glass staircase and artisan glass work by Lynn Biteman.

Other design highlights include handcrafted African Anigre furniture, black Italian granite flooring, custom electric Mechoshades, SieMatic kitchen cabinetry, a jewel box-inspired master closet, gold-plated fixtures, and custom lighting and sound systems.

Upon exiting the penthouse’s private elevator, curved walls of glass provide dynamic 270° views of Diamond Head, Waikiki, Honolulu Harbor and the Waianae Mountain Range, creating a unique immersion into Hawaii’s natural surroundings.

Integrated into the design and either included or sold separately are the magnificent works of globally recognised artists Luigi Fumagali, Hiroshi Tagami, and Lau Chun, along with other custom furnishings.
