Timothy Oulton’s global flagship makeover by Cultural Agenda

Located on London’s King’s Road, the British furniture brand’s 7,200 sq ft space refit includes featuring a giant fish tank housing a yellow submarine and a 1.7 tonne rock crystal dating back millions of years

by Georgina Johnston 03 September 2021

Each year every Timothy Oulton gallery worldwide undergoes a refresh in order to present its latest collection. In 2020, highlights included Frozen, a lighting collection made from milky calcite crystals, and new additions to the brand’s Noble Souls collection, featuring organic vegetable dyes extracted from the purple root of the ancient Maca plant; the curvaceous Shaggy chair swathed in the softest sheepskin, and Slouchy, a recliner chair that defies preconceptions.

The space, at the historic Bluebird building, was designed around a spectrum of different energies, representing modern lifestyles. Moving through the gallery, visitors are immersed in these different energy levels, from a serene and peaceful sanctuary to relaxed everyday living, then changing gear to a more invigorating backdrop and, finally, an energising space designed to thrill.

The gallery also features a to-scale replica of the Apollo spacecraft, designed and realised by Timothy Oulton Studio, the brand’s sister company.

The refitted showroom reopened on 15 June 2020.
