Vilchinskaya Design Bureau’s Beauty Kyiv salon

Purity, texture, reflections and rhythm are the interior themes implemented by the studio and serve to create an enveloping atmosphere in an area of 120 sq m

by Georgina Johnston 15 December 2021

Since the front windows are facing north and the room lacked sunlight, the studio decided to make the most of light nude shades, reflective surfaces and add contrast with bright furniture. For this, a pale blue colour and brushed copper were chosen; though one of the customer’s requirements was a style solution in a combination of white and pink metal. The rounded forms of furniture and milling helped to make the interior soft and delicate.

At the reception, guests are greeted by a counter made of white textile panel with pintucks and a table top made of matte metallised copper medium-density fibreboard. Behind it is a panel woven using the macrame technique; an interpretation of women’s braids, made by the craftsman’s hand for this interior.

After moving the technical rooms to a dark corner, many doors formed in the visiting area. To hide them and make them dissolve into the interior, the entire space above them was combined with white fragmentary plaster moldings.

Opposite the entrance to the salon, there is a composition of matte and ordinary mirrors, the rhythm is emphasised by brass and copper inserts. The same technique was used in the panel in the manicure area, only some matte areas were illuminated from the inside.

In the area of hairdressers, the same techniques are used throughout the interior, white plaster, rhythm, nonferrous metal and cleanliness; this part turned out to be so balanced that it did not require decor.

The chairs for the zone were ordered by the specialised Italian brand Maletti. The legs for the countertop were mounted from plasterboard and faced with porcelain stoneware. A little more decor and colours were added to the pedicure area to combine the time during the procedure with an opportunity for selfies to create an online presence through customer photo-endorsements.
