MYP Design instils calm and elegant tone for Zhongzhou Peninsula City Sales Centre

Based in Qingdao, China, the 1,000 sq m development creates a community surrounded by green areas and waterscapes in the riverside park

by Connor Gill 06 January 2022

Soft and hard textures touched by warm and cold light, representing day and night, create a comfortable atmosphere of security. The designers used gentle tones in the project to cultivate a caring and trustworthy sense of community.

While the transportation network around the project aids convenience for pedestrians, the large green landscape of the interior matches the exterior areas of the riverside park. The  concept creates a easily livable community whichi is sheltered by green areas, as well as waterscapes.

MYP Designs implemented a precise and consistent approach to materials that fully harnesses all architectural elements.

Stone materials line the interior expanding across large areas. Their bold lines and strong textures stimulate mental associations with nature.

The ceiling presents stainless steel mirror-like surfaces that interact with changing light to portray the dynamic nature of water. The art installations and architectural models take the shape of sails.

Found around the project, artistic pieces devoted to the land are a source of inspiration. The negotiation area includes a design masterpiece of the 20th century: the Falkland Lamp by the Italian designer Bruno Munari.

The children’s area on the first floor and the residents' living area on the second floor provide a compatible and interlinked atmosphere of openness.
