Atelier Kempe Thill wins design competition for residential tower in Germany

The winning team will collaborate with architects, Blauraum, Heide von Beckerath and Muf, to achieve the Hafencity environmental certification

by Hannah Holt 17 February 2022 Urban design

The project is part of the Baakenhafen masterplan designed by Hosoya Schaefer Architects in Zurich.

The BF113 West tower will offer a variety of apartments which will enjoy fantastic panoramic views of the harbour, the river Elbe and Hamburg city centre. All apartments will have balconies around the entire facade allowing each room to be directly connected with an outside space. In the plinth, two duplex units will be built and able to accommodate both working and living purposes.

The designers plan to achieve the Hafencity environmental label by focusing on the reduction of energy consumption and CO² during the building process, and the use of recyclable materials.

Construction is scheduled to begin at the end of 2022.
