Michelle Leotuad, a Trinidad and Tobago-based interior designer and director of Apple and Iron Concepts, was tasked with designing and decorating the spaces.
Her priority was to make sure guests felt like they were in the Caribbean, and more specifically, in Barbados. As a result, there's a true sense of place, with natural elements throughout the hotel, including wood, marble and leaf motifs found on headboards and in lifts and foyers.
Many pieces used in the décor of the hotel have been purchased from local vendors, including local artists to create original works of art as well as prints, for the guest rooms and suites.
Each restaurant has completely different characteristics, so guests enjoy a new experience every night.
In Acqua, the resort’s spa, there are a lot of muted colours such as grey and white marble so that guests can soak in the sparkling ocean view. Very few spas offer panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea, particularly from treatment rooms, so it was intentional to make the stunning ocean front and centre.
