Our readers’ favourite projects, featuring a sunken living room, a hotel amongst Chinese trees and a New York inspired condominium

by Hannah Holt 23 May 2022

Hilton’s first Motto Hotel in NYC designed by Stonehill Taylor

The 374 key property occupies a new, 42 storey structure and incorporates the brand's food and beverage venues with streamlined guestrooms.

Set within a former theatre district, the team were inspired to include art installations and arches in the hotel’s public spaces and guest rooms.

Inside the entry vestibule, multicoloured panels hang in a kaleidoscopic ceiling installation, and a jewel tinted stained glass screen provides a backdrop to the reception desk.

Florida’s tropical modern home with a sunken living room

Located on North Bay Road in Miami Beach, Choeff Levy Fischman designed the 10,000 sq ft home with six bedrooms, 7.5 bathrooms, a private carriage house and a rooftop terrace.

The entrance of the home is landscaped with tropical plants, exotic stones and water features.

Public and amenity spaces, including reception, lounges, an all-day restaurant, and bar areas, make up the first two floors. An outdoor food and beverage terrace can be found on the second level and a fitness room on the fourth. Guest rooms run up to the 41st floor.

Atlanta’s modern residential tower with hotel services and amenities

40 West 12th, the New York inspired condominium redefining Midtown Atlanta's luxury real estate market, is part of 1105 West Peachtree Development, home to Google and the Epicurean Atlanta Hotel.

Residences include two to four bedroom layouts, upscale finishes, indoor and outdoor amenities and panoramic city views. The building also contains a sky high, all season pool and a resident exclusive indoor outdoor lounge.

Services include a 24-hour concierge, in-home food delivery, in-home personal chef and housekeeping, as well as access to Epicurean hotel services from catering and poolside concierge, to priority reservations and travel assistance.

ODA’s wabi-sabi inspired condominiums in Brooklyn

Centrally located in the Boerum Hill neighbourhood, 561 Pacific is a 110,600 sq ft condominium project which draws inspiration from the Japanese concept celebrating what is naturally incomplete.

The project’s nearly hidden entrance, clad in wooden slats, transports residents and visitors into a peaceful and natural respite from the city, blending a palette of woods, metals, and greenery to create tranquil interior spaces.

The custom designed kitchens have a material palette of woods, stone and metals which create an inviting, welcoming space. Glass on stainless steel appliances offer an elegant and contemporary look.

Sleep amongst the trees at Guilin Lebei Homestay Hotel

Designed by aoe, the hotel is located beside a small river and creates an immersive accommodation experience close to nature.

The building is raised to a height of five metres, aligned with the tree canopy, giving people the experience of shuttling through the jungle.

The project contains 13 units, each with different forms, areas, and shapes, with an area of approximately 27 sq m.
