The project will include the construction of new faculty offices and a library with outdoor art galleries. Recreational facilities, including sports grounds, and event spaces are also part of the plan. There will also be quiet areas where students can meet, study, and share ideas.
All features have been sensitively designed within the existing campus’ rolling hillside setting.
Rwanda has been celebrated in the design work, through a careful selection and integration of cultural motifs and locally produced materials, with handmade details creating a distinct built fabric.
Sustainability was another large consideration, with natural lighting and ventilation harnessed wherever possible, as well as the use of solar heating and lighting technologies.
