IN.X Design unveils second Wan Wea Restaurant in Chengdu China

Romantic tranquil restaurant embodies the spirit of the Chengdu area

by Séan Thurgood 15 August 2022

In the Chengdu Fortune Center, a new branch of Wan Wea Restaurant has opened. As part of a local renovation project, the 1,427 sq m dining establishment aims to attract professionals

Despite being a bustling city, Chengdu is within viewing distance of picturesque scenery such as the snow-capped mountains of Mount Qingcheng. The elements of the outdoors are brought within with the walls contouring like a valley above stylish modern dining tables.

The ceiling makes use of a staggered and stacked wooden structure that wraps around the structural columns. The aim of the designers was to combine the elements of fine dining with the earthiness of the outdoors. In addition several areas of the ceiling are fitted with mirrors that reflect upon the scene below and further enhance the illusion of a valley.

Using a black and white geometric pattern, the floor creates a striking contrast with the ceiling. A transparent wall separates the diners from the kitchen, allowing visitors to observe the skill of the chefs.

With a bar connected to the cellar, a rich glow of modern lighting creates a romantic atmosphere while keeping the space clear, light and graceful.
