Pininfarina announces residential development “Light Towers” in Mérida, Mexico

On the Yucatan Peninsula’s coast, it is intended to be a catalyst for real estate growth in the region

Within the rapidly growing city, Light Towers will consist of two buildings of 15 and 17 floors which will be connected by a five-storey base creating a v-shaped structure. With a green valley within the open-air core, the building will embrace the culture of its Mexican surroundings and blur the line between nature and design.

For the construction, regionally sourced materials such as plaster and concrete are being used to reduce overall environmental impact and also supporting the local economy. Throughout the structure a bright palette of colours is used, drawing inspiration from the environment and local cultural traditions.

Light Towers is located just north of the city centre and is in close proximity to the shopping centres, cinemas, schools, universities, restaurants, supermarkets and the Progreso beach.

With 122 condominiums ranging from two bedroom units to five-bedroom penthouses, each will be connected to the greenery of the tower. Depending on the unit, between 25% to 75% of the square feet per unit will be dedicated towards the greenspace.

The green lifestyle is further enhanced by the second-floor resident amenity spaces which offer a deck to encourage outdoor activities and gatherings. The floor features a coworking space, swimming pool, and more than  3,000 sq ft of physical wellbeing space including a gym, play area and spa.

To further support social gatherings, on the 7th and 8th floor, residents will have access to a party and cinema room, shared kitchen space and two bars - one for fresh teas and juice, and the other for cocktails.

The foundation of the building will be entirely permeable and is intended to bring the neighbourhood and the views of the environment inward. A ventilated parking garage will help the structure against any potential weather hazards. Construction for the project began in August 2022.
