Aedas renew Bagualing Industrial Park into vibrant hub in Shenzhen, China

The development is located in the financial industry belt adjacent to Hongling North Road

by Séan Thurgood 29 November 2022

Formerly an industrial zone, the area has been selected as a financial technology headquarters and for R&D companies in the Special Economic Zone’s latest development plans. The area is surrounded by a comprehensive transportation network which will offer connectivity to the broader city.

Across 140,000 sq m, the project will include a high-rise office and apartment tower, and a retail podium towards the parks to the east. The residences occupy the highest floors to provide full views of the surrounding area, while the offices are concentrated on the middle floor.

The flowing façade of the building forms a design similar to the Pinwheel of Bagua (windmill), separated into four jagged quadrants with a streamlined tower body. The façade’s structure brings natural light into the building and joins seamlessly with the public corridor at multiple levels to improve the multileveled slow walking system.

Within the building, the main venue “IN space” is situated on the lower floors with the highest levels of accessibility from the basement, ground floor, and second floor. At 17m above ground, it frees space for the hall and plaza below and can be used to host large scale events ushc as music festivals.

Several vertical green spaces including textured landscapes, sky gardens, and the entrance waterscapes help break down the barriers between architecture and nature.
