Matteo Thun & Partners craft hospitality experience for modern travellers in Prague

Within a neo-renaissance building, ‘The Julius’ offers affordable luxury in the historic city centre

by Séan Thurgood 20 October 2022

With 168 individual residences, most complete with living room and separate bedroom spaces and all featuring an open-plan kitchen, the space provides much for a modern traveller.

Located near Prague’s Old Town gates, the design aims to provide an authentic Czech experience for visitors. The colour palette throughout is inspired by the art heritage of the Czech Republic including artists such as Mucha and Kupka. Through the use of custom furniture based on Kupka's abstract pieces, the communal areas create an energetic atmosphere.

The Emporium bistro and bar is at the heart of the building and offers a comfortable lunch or workspace throughout the day before engaging guests with its evening drinks and food menus. With a sleek metallic finish it provides a feeling of understated luxury.

Within the residences the influence of Mucha is present with pared-back pastel hues paired with soft textiles and natural materials such as the oak wood floors that create a feeling of comfort.

The residences are designed for freedom and flexibility, whether staying one night or one month with hassle-free access and flexible amenities.
