Ad agency offices sell collaborative working

“Love the use of warm colour tones, wood and tile finishes mixed with hard edge metals,” Nthabi Taukobong, Judge.

Project: McCann Worldgroup London HQ

Award: Corporate offices (more than 10,000 sqm), Silver, 2022

Location: London, UK

Design practice: Gensler

Client: McCann Worldgroup

The new office space for advertising agency McCann Worldgroup, brings over 1,200 employees across 12 different agencies who had been working in four separate locations in London all under one roof for the first time in the organisation's history.
The workspace has been designed to foster collaboration, cohesion and creative thinking whilst celebrating each agency's specialism, individuality and independence. With a bright and playful feel, the offices are situated around a large light-filled atrium with generous amounts of communal space on offer.
Multiuse spaces and a largely open-plan layout incorporate free standing furniture solutions, allowing for easy adaptation now and in the future.

Design highlights

The offices have been created with neurodiverse-friendly design in mind. Escape spaces are on offer while transition zones between working areas enable workers to recalibrate their senses. Mindful of sensory overload, the offices offer spaces that are bold and bright as well as pared back and quiet, allowing the user to choose the setting that is right for them. Built to a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating, materials and products have been sourced locally wherever possible while the reuse of existing furniture and equipment from the former studios has aided the reduction of waste.
