Assure was commissioned to fully renovate the family home of a sociable, art collecting couple with three young children. The brief: to create serene, light-filled and functional interiors that balanced the husband’s preference for a formal, traditional layout with the wife’s desire for a more comfortable lifestyle. Top of the client’s design wish list was finding an appropriate way to display their collection of European antiques, including furniture and decorative art as well as a collection of family heirlooms.
Design highlights
An all-new kitchen/family room and an outdoor gazebo enhance family life. Practical additions include a new laundry, mud room and staff quarters. Antique architectural elements such as the fireplace mantel in the dining room provide a sense of history. Vintage furniture and decorative objects blend with family pieces and new contemporary acquisitions. A light-coloured backdrop shows off the art and antiques.
