Award: Workspace Interiors: Corporate Offices (Under 5000 sqm), Bronze, 2023
Design Practice: Rapt Studio
Client: Chow Now
The new headquarters for online food platform, Chow Now are a community-centred space designed to feel more like a restaurant than an office. A test kitchen features tile backsplashes and butcher-block countertops, and entices staff to cook weekday lunches and enjoy takeout when restaurant partners cater for the office.
The kitchen features colours pulled from spice cabinets — yellow mustard, red paprika and dusty rose. Banquettes provide a space for staff to chat and work. They buffer sound and provide a visual barrier to the sit-stand workstations lined by conference rooms just beyond. On the opposite side of the office a café features accent colours inspired by herbs like sage, mint, rosemary and basil.
Design highlights
A custom made 16-foot-long chef’s table links the kitchen and café and provides a space for company employees to convene for meals. Glass garage doors peel upward to connect to a shaded outdoor patio, where staff can eat and work on sunny days.
