Project: Promenade Workplace of Kano Headquarters
Award: Workspace Interiors – Corporate offices (less than 10,000 sqm), Bronze, 2022
Location: Anji, China
Design practice: LYCS Architecture
Client: Kano
The headquarters for Kano, a well-known office furniture brand in China, are arranged around a six-storey atrium where a super-sized spiral staircase, resembling a huge stage, provides the centre piece. This magnificent pale wood structure passes through the multi-functional office space including reception, conference, sales, design, research and development and training areas as well as the showroom and the president's office.
Covering around 7,500 square metres, the new offices provide a high-quality and inspiring working environment for employees as well as acting as the sales space for company. The design team came up with the strategy of "Promenade Workplace" - a new paradigm for a workspace that functions both as office and exhibition space.
Design highlights
When the atrium is viewed from one of the floors above, the staircase resembles a verandah bathed in sunlight. Skylights provide ample sunlight and fresh air for employees on all floors.
