Rising star winner praised for poetic project

Award: Judges’ Award - Rising Star: Mix Architecture with Shanshui Firewood Garden 

Founded in 2016, Mix Architecture, based in Nanjing, China, creates inspirational urban planning, architectural design, interior design and landscape design, focusing on the design and research of spaces such as new business formats, cultural revitalization, urban renewal and rural revitalization.

The WAN judges loved its scheme Shanshui Firewood Garden, a 2023 gold award winner in the Multi-Use category. They described it as 'an elegant, contemporary scheme that paid tribute to the local vernacular while showing innovative use of material'.

Mix is committed to exploring the possibility of architecture in various contexts to respond to the most primitive emotional and spiritual needs of human beings. By connecting imagination and reality, it creates spaces that explore the spirit of the site in which they are located, intrinsically integrating people, architecture and nature.
