Siemens Energy Dubai Expo, SAY Studio

This project has been shortlisted in the Corporate Offices (5,000 - 10,000 SQM) category of the WIN Awards 2024

Project: Siemens Energy Dubai Expo
Award: Workspace Interiors - Corporate Offices (5,000 - 10,000 SQM), 2024
Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Design practice: SAY Studio
Client:
Siemens Energy

The new Siemens Energy workplace is distributed across five buildings in the Sustainability District in Expo, that allow employees to interact and collaborate in different ways. Designed to represent the company’s core values, as well as its vision for the future, the space is divided into teamwork and collaboration, communication, individual work and concentration and social and relaxation spaces.

Space planning for each building accommodates various shared space elements for different types of tasks, ranging from individual workstations to agile collaboration rooms, focus booths, formal and casual space, work cafés and lounges. As the offices are distributed across five buildings, creating connectivity was a key driver to ensure that there was a holistic feel to the campus. The buildings were not originally designed for office occupancy and so the scope of the project included providing windows to ground floor spaces, bathrooms, raised floor and ramps.

Design highlights

All five buildings received five separate LEED Gold certifications, with measures such as low flow water usage fittings, smart energy monitoring, careful selection of products and use of innovative materials all incorporated into the design.

Carefully planned, shared amenity spaces such as the café and learning centre are placed in the central building and connected by bridges in order to draw staff from different departments together.

Led by the core philosophy of “we energize society”, the interiors are inspired by different energy forms from kinetic, to light, gravitational to thermal energy.

A Wall of Inclusion features artwork by local artists that are students of the Dubai Center for Special Needs, showcasing the longstanding partnership between the two organizations.
